Bansko is the newest and most preferred Bulgarian ski resort, and most rapidly developing one. Bansko is an interesting combination between the virgin nature of Pirin Mountain and the atmosphere of the ancient Bulgarian small town. Bansko is situated 925 meters above sea level, and its skiing area is 2000-2500 m above sea level. It attracts visitors by its 120 cultural monuments, its museums and permanent ethnographic exhibitions. Surrounded by Pirin, Rila and Rhodope mountains, Bansko is a nice mountain resort with short summer and long winter. Ski season starts in mid-December and ends in mid-April.
